Today, we are sharing a significant milestone in the journey of Bijli Productions. After years of leadership, our Co-Founder and Co-Artistic Director, Mariem Omari, will be transitioning out of the day-to-day operations of the company handing over responsibility for Bijli's artistic vision, programme and creative leadership to Shilpa T-Hyland who took up the position of Co-Artistic Director in February 2025.
While Mariem is stepping away from running the company, her extensive experience of the organisation's artistic practice, history, values and relationships will remain in her new role as Founder & Creative Advisor, supporting Bijli's continued development under Shilpa’s artistic leadership.
Here’s to celebrating 10 years of Bijli Productions, and many more years to come as it continues to deliver on its artistic promise to Scotland’s Global Majority artists, the wider arts sector, and communities across the nation.
