Raisah Ahmed
Raisah is a Scottish Asian Muslim Writer/Director, currently working across TV and film. She has been shortlisted for the Sundance Screenwriters Lab twice - in 2015 with Meet Me By The Water and in 2018 with Safar. She is in development with WW1, a feature Half-Moon Camp for Film 4. Her writing credits include CBeebies shows Feeling Better, Molly and Mack, and Control, a BBC The Social phone drama, and Aden’s Journey, a short drama about a refugee unaccompanied minor. Alumni of the EIFF Talent Lab 2014, Raisah had her first commissioned short, Meet Me By The Water, premiere at EIFF 2016, and directed one of BBC 3’s The Break III. She was recently a shadowing director on CBeebies Molly and Mack.
Uzma Mir
Uzma is a TV Executive Producer, currently working on CBeebies family drama series Molly and Mack. She joined the BBC in 1989 as a Graduate Trainee and worked across many genres, in a wide variety of roles. From 2002 until 2006 she was an Executive Producer in BBC Scotland's Children's Department overseeing a wide slate of programmes from gameshows to drama. On leaving the BBC in 2006, she set up Turmeric Media, an independent production company specialising in factual, children's and educational television and radio. She is passionate about advancing diversity of stories, thoughts and people in media production and the arts.
Simon Sharkey
Simon was one of the founding directors of the National Theatre of Scotland. Over 15 years with NTS, Simon pioneered a programme of participatory and community arts across Scotland and the rest of the world. Since leaving NTS in 2018 he formed The Necessary Space which he calls a ‘Theatre of Opportunity.’ He is currently engaged in several projects across the world. Most recently he has presented as a key note speaker in several countries and contexts. He works on epic and intimate scales with site specific theatre and theatre for social change.
